Lauren Marshall Bowen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of English and a Faculty Fellow of the Gerontology Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her research explores literacy and writing development across the lifespan. Her recent work examines the interrelationships between age identity and literate identity, which includes attention to learners' pathways to and through higher education institutions. Since 2018, she has collaborated with colleagues in Gerontology to develop and refine a means of assessing age inclusivity in higher education institutions in the United States.
