Wilber Escorcia is a molecular biologist who studies points of intersection between genomic instability and other hallmarks of aging. He uses fission yeast and Caenorhabditis elegans for his research and employs bioinformatics, genetics, and microscopy approaches to address questions of interest. He obtained a B.A. and M.S. in biology from California State University, Northridge. He completed a Ph.D. in molecular biology at the University of Southern California. Prior to joining Xavier University as an assistant professor of biology, he carried out postdoctoral work at the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. He has previously taught at California State University-Los Angeles, UCLA, and USC.
