Jennifer A. Deal is an epidemiologist and gerontologist with expertise in hearing loss and cognitive aging. She is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University, Core Faculty at the Johns Hopkins Disability Health Research Center, and Core Faculty and Associate Director for Academic Training with the Johns Hopkins Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health, a first-in-kind research center dedicated to training a generation of clinicians and researchers to understand and address the impact of hearing loss on older adults. She completed an undergraduate degree in biology from Indiana University and received Master of Health Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Deal studies how hearing loss and vascular factors impact the aging brain to understand pathways involved and to inform development of public health prevention strategies.
