Michael Marcus, Principal, Consultants for Community Resources
Currently, Michael serves as Principal of Consultants for Community Resources, which provides consultation and advocacy in aging program development, fundraising, and community development. At CCR, Michael has worked with many clients, including Alzheimer's Disease International, American Institutes for Research, Aviva, Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, Strategic Philanthropy, The Cedars of Portland, and United Hebrew Geriatric Center, among others.
Michael is the President of Shared World Tours, LLC, which organizes all-inclusive guided tours for professionals and students in the field of aging, from facilities managers to social workers, administrators, policymakers, educators, and students. In addition, shared World offers travel opportunities for North American professionals to connect and learn from colleagues internationally to help develop a robust network of like-minded professionals. Michael serves as a national faculty member of the Asset-Based Community Development Institute of DePaul University. As part of the ABCD Institute, Michael has facilitated asset mapping and strategic planning efforts and led training programs on community development.
He is also a Generations United Senior Fellow. In that role, he leads a national project examining how food acts as a vehicle for building solid intergenerational communities. In that role, he was part of the team that conceived of, found funding for, and launched Teach Me to Grow Healthy (TMTGH) in Reno, Nevada. TMTGH is an intergenerational community garden featured in the Aging 2021 Workshop 78128– Indigenous People Food Growing and Learning Together: How Creating an Intergenerational Community Garden can Bring Native American Elders and Youth Together.
From 2007 until 2016, Michael led the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation's groundbreaking work serving older adults and caregivers. The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation is the largest funder in the field of aging in the United States.
