Cassandra "Cass" Dictus is a Hillman Scholar in Nursing Innovation at the Univerisity of North Carolina -Chapel Hill. She earned her BSN from UNC in 2018 and is continuing there for her PhD. As a second-degree nursing student, she previously earned a BS in Biology from Denison University and an MPH focused on Health Management and Policy from Portland State University. Cass first found her passion for working with older adults while working as a CNA in nursing home and home care settings. Today, she continues to work per diem at the bedside as an RN in a CCRC. She received an F31 from NINR to support her dissertation focused on multi-level factors related to racial disparities in end-of-life symptoms for nursing home residents with dementia.
