Dr. Fox is an Assistant Professor of Gerontology in the Center on Aging at Kansas State University. Prior to joining K-State, she taught lifespan human development and family science courses at the University of Utah. In addition, she worked in the Utah Department of Health as the state Developmental Screening Coordinator, training and working with private and community service providers to promote optimal care, developmental screening, and education in early childhood. After a shift in her teaching, research, and community engagement interests to older adults, she continued her education by earning a doctoral degree at Colorado State University in Applied Developmental Science with a focus on adult development and aging. Dr. Fox's current teaching and research focus on the health and well-being of family caregivers and family dynamics in aging families. Specifically, Dr. Fox utilizes survey research and analysis, and applied science and qualitative methods to study the experiences of family caregivers and test intervention and prevention programs aimed at promoting the health and well-being of care partners and communication within aging families. Dr. Fox is actively engaged in community programs for older adults and their families, including volunteering for local Hospice services as a certified Death Doula, facilitating a family caregiver support group for the Alzheimer’s Association, and collaborating with Extension programs around the state.
