Dr. Tucker-Roghi is an occupational therapist with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, leadership, management, and education. She is board certified in gerontology from the American Occupational Therapy Association and is the chair of the occupational therapy department at Dominican University of California. In 2019, Dr. Tucker-Roghi received the Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) Geriatric Academic Career Award (GACA) and she serves as the Project Director for Occupational Therapy and Interprofessional Education to Support Health, Well-Being and Quality of Life for Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment and Mental Illness. Prior to transitioning to a full-time position in academia, Dr. Tucker-Roghi worked as a Therapy Resource for Ensign Services where she developed and led the successful implementation of the Abilities Care Approach to Dementia through collaborative partnerships of physicians, skilled nursing facility (SNF) administrators, nurses, and therapists. In her role as a Therapy Resource she developed a core team of clinical educators who taught the interprofessional Abilities Care Approach curriculum to teams of healthcare providers working in SNFs. She created online clinical education resources and developed a program manual to support the practical implementation of the program. In her work as a HRSA GACA recipient over the past three years, Dr. Tucker-Roghi has partnered with community-based organizations in Northern California to expand the reach of OT services by utilizing community-based models of care to provide occupational therapy services to older adults living in the community.
