Matilde Cervantes Navarrete (she/her) has a rich background in psychology and psychotherapy with 15 years of experience in private practice in México. She is also an international researcher at the University of Victoria with interests in gerontechnology, geropsychology, healthy aging, mental health, social justice, environmental psychology, participatory action research, arts interventions and arts-based research with intergenerational and life course approaches.
She recently graduated with a Master’s in the Social Dimensions of Health and her thesis is about the psychosocial well-being of caregivers of persons living with dementia who participated in a community-based choir. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student affiliated with the Institute on Aging & Lifelong Health at the University of Victoria. For her doctoral studies and research, Matilde is investigating assistive technologies for healthy aging and the intersections of Arts and Health.
