I am assistant professor in the Division of Ageing and Social Change, Department of Culture and Society, in Linkoping University (LiU), Sweden. I originally come from Greece, and prior to my studies I was a professional basketball player for 13 years in Greece, Germany, and Spain. My bachelor studies were on psychology at the University of Sheffield (TUoS), where I completed my PhD in 2018 at the Department of Social Studies, under the supervision of Prof. Alan Walker and Prof. Ana B. Vivas. My post-doc work in LiU under Prof. Andreas Motel-Klingebiel was focused on the gendered drivers and consequences of exclusion from social relations in older age. My research interests on ageing includes social relations, loneliness and mental health, quality of life in older age, and cognitive decline with ageing. I have been involved as well in research on doping and sports. My research portfolio includes international collaborations within research and applied projects funded by national, European, and international agencies. My teaching portfolio in undergraduate and advanced level has been about ageing, psychology, and quantitative methodology.
