Lee Morissette is the Chief Physician Assistant, Emergency Department, Mt Ascutney Hospital, Windsor, VT, which is a rural critical access hospital. Lee’s interest in geriatrics developed after his wife Sabina Morissette, MD completed her Geriatric Fellowship and became board certified as a Geriatrician. Mt Ascutney Hospital’s Emergency Department volume is 42% geriatric patients, supporting 6 nursing homes and assisted living facilities within its catchment area. While on the SEMPA Board, he served as a liaison to the ACEP Geriatric Committee while ACEP was developing its Geriatric Emergency Department certification program. Mt Ascutney Hospital Emergency Department was recently certified as a Geriatric Emergency Department by ACEP to enhance their ability to care for geriatric patients.
