Dr. Flaherty is the Vice President, Geriatric Center of Excellence at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, past President of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and the 2020 recipient of the prestigious AGS Henderson Award. Dr. Flaherty is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Dartmouth HRSA funded Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP), and for an Administration for Community Living (ACL) Falls Prevention award. Dr. Flaherty is also a Co-Principal Investigator of the AGS National GWEP Coordinating Center funded by the John A. Harford Foundation. Dr. Flaherty’s program of research and practice has focused on an interprofessional approach to primary care through the Geriatric Interprofessional Team Transformation in Primary Care (GITT-PC) model using the Age-Friendly Health Systems framework. Dr. Flaherty has a joint appointment in Geriatrics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where she practices as an Advanced Practice Nurse in General Internal Medicine. Dr. Flaherty spent 25 years working in New York City to advance clinical practice in geriatric nursing at the NYU College of Nursing/Hartford Institute where she received her Ph.D in Nursing. While at NYU, Dr. Flaherty was the Co-PI of the John A. Hartford Foundation Geriatric Interdisciplinary Team Training (GITT) Resource Center.
