Dr. Sterling is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is a practicing general internist and a health services researcher. The overall goal of her research is to improve health and healthcare delivery for adults with chronic conditions, to enable them to remain at home with optimal quality of life and avoid unnecessary hospitalizations. To do this, she focuses on home health care and the home care workforce. Specifically, she investigates the impact of home health care services on patient outcomes using quantitative and qualitative research methods. She also conducts intervention-based research and is designing, testing, and implementing novel interventions that leverage home health care workers (aides, attendants) to improve their own working conditions, but also patient outcomes. A core feature of her research program is community partnership.
