Graduate Student
UC San Diego School of Medicine - Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care
LA JOLLA, California, United States
I am a third year PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine. I am originally from San Diego, CA and began research as an undergraduate at Brandeis University in Boston, MA. My graduate research focuses on the role of mitochondrial function in heathy aging and diseases of aging. Within this framework, I am interested in investigating age-related and genetically-related cellular phenotypes of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. My research goals include identifying mitochondrial mechanisms of neurological disease through blood and tissue-based bioenergetics, compound screening in 2D and 3D cell models, and optimizing cell models from our clinical studies. Outside of lab, I am very active in my graduate program’s student council, mentoring students applying to graduate school, and my Latin dance team.
