Dr. Monique J. Brown is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. She is also a Faculty Affiliate in the SmartState Center for Healthcare Quality, the Rural and Minority Health Research Center and the Office for the Study on Aging. Currently, she is Deputy Director of the Maternal and Child Health Leadership, Education, and Advancement in Undergraduate Pathways (MCH LEAP) Program. She completed a postdoctoral research fellowship and was a Research Assistant Professor in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, her Master of Public Health from the Brown University of Public Health and her Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College. Dr. Brown’s research focuses on HIV intervention and prevention; childhood trauma; social, behavioral and mental health; and aging. She is interested in these as separate and intersecting areas of study. She has won national awards for her research and has published 80 publications. Her research is currently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (K01MH115794).
