Dr. Amit Kumar is an early-stage health services researcher, Assistant Professor at the Center for Health Equity Research at Northern Arizona University and supported by the Southwest Health Equity Research Collaborative, a participating Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI). Dr. Kumar is a clinically trained Physical Therapist with graduate training in population health, minority aging, and health equity. He gained experience using survey and administrative data during his MPH, Ph.D., and postdoc at Brown University. Dr. Kumar's research includes the evaluation of the relative effect of comorbidities and social risk factors for predicting rehabilitation outcomes and variation in health care by race, region, and insurance status. In addition, Dr. Kumar is a scholar at the Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) at Washing State University. His RCMAR work focused on understanding post-acute utilization and transition patterns in American Indians/Alaskan Natives Patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.
