Suzanne Meeks is a Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville. Her research interests have broadly covered psychopathology and well-being in late life, and she has spent much of the last two decades developing and refining an intervention for depression in nursing home residents called BE-ACTIV. She has received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Kindred Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently she is collaborating with researchers at the Providence VA and elsewhere to implement a VA version of BE-ACTIV in Community Living Centers (VA nursing homes). She was the 2008 President of the Society of Clinical Geropsychology, and is a member of American Psychological Association Divisions 12 & 20, Psychologists in Long Term Care (PLTC), and the Kentucky Psychological Association. She is a fellow of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Section of the Gerontological Society of America. She won the 2012 PLTC award for Outstanding Contributions to Psychology in Long Term Care. Dr. Meeks is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Gerontologist.
