Noell Rowan, Ph.D., LCSW, LCAS, CCS, FGSA, FNAP, serves as Professor, School of Social Work and gerontology faculty affiliate, College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina, Wilmington and has served in several academic leadership roles including Associate School Director, undergraduate BSW Program Coordinator, and Founder, Substance Use Disorders and Addictions Program within School of Social Work. Her research is in the overarching areas of gerontology, LGBT populations, substance use/addictions, and impact on interdisciplinary and social work practice. She has authored more than 40 publications, received several teaching, service, and research awards, and has been funded by internal, local, state, and federal grants. She is also a Distinguished Fellow and Social Work Scholar, National Academies of Practice, Distinguished Fellow, Gerontological Society of America and a Hartford Geriatric Social Work Scholar.
