Assistant Professor
Virginia Commonwealth University
Richmond, Virginia, United States
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. My program of research is directed toward developing, applying, and evaluating technology applications, including sensors and emerging technologies, to advance the methods of detecting early functional changes and social isolation/loneliness that may lead to negative health outcomes and to promote healthy aging in older adults. I also continue to work on advancing the technology implementation science by exploring older adults’ acceptability of smart home devices and passive sensing technology in a sociocultural context. My ultimate goal is to develop a community-based informatics approach to support older adults' need for aging in place through the end of life, maximizing independence and function.
