Hanamori Skoblow is a PhD student in the Department of Human Development & Family Science at the University of Missouri. Her research focuses on longitudinal and dyadic associations between older adults' psychosocial resources, health, and well-being. Currently, her work centers on two areas: (1) the connection between views on aging and health; and (2) the link between early-life socioeconomic position and later-life cognitive functioning.
She was selected as a 2022 Summer Policy Intern with GSA where she researched and analyzed legislation that impacts older adults, crafted issue briefs of Public Policy & Aging Report for Congressional staffers, and represented GSA in meetings with national coalition partners. She also helped develop the GSA 75th anniversary podcast, Science and Storytelling, and hosted or co-hosted several episodes (https://www.geron.org/programs-services/podcasts/science-and-storytelling). As a family gerontologist, she serves as the Co-Chair of the Issues in Aging focus group with the National Council on Family Relations.
