Shayna Gleason is a doctoral candidate in Gerontology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Before graduate school, Shayna served as Coordinator of Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh, part of the World Health Organization's international initiative to create inclusive and accessible communities for all ages. Shayna also worked with the Pittsburgh-area paratransit agency as a community engagement liaison and software trainer. She has conducted academic research on arts programs for older adults, including research on a recent grant from the National Endowment for the Arts on social prescribing of arts programs. At UMass Boston, Shayna works with the Center for Social and Demographic Research on Aging, where she has helped design and implement a program evaluation for a 55+ remote employment training program. She has also worked with local MA communities on needs assessments and age-friendly action plans. In addition, Shayna is a Research Associate with the Transit Workforce Center. Shayna's research interests include transportation, age-friendly communities, and arts participation for older adults.
