Elinore Avni is a PhD student in the Sociology department at Boston University. She obtained her Master's degree in Sociology from Tel Aviv University. Her research interests include intergenerational relationships, ageing and the life course, medical Sociology, international Sociology and quantitative methodology. Her present study, "Cross-national Differences in Attitudes towards Family and Governmental Support for Elder and Child care", compares responses to the question of “who should primarily provide” eldercare and childcare across three countries: the US, Germany and Israel. It discusses how cross-national differences in attitudes toward care are associated with cultural and socio-economic characteristics, and highlights implications for policy and practice.
