Mr. Breakman is a VP at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), where he serves as an energy and telecommunications expert, while simultaneously leading a group of technical and consulting professionals within the Business and Technology Strategies (BTS) Department of the company. With over 20 years of utility and leadership experience, Mr. Breakman supports and executes on a wide range of initiatives for NRECA’s membership, with a focus on utility business models, rural broadband, data analytics, resource adequacy, and energy markets. Mr. Breakman is mission-driven and commited to effectuating the success of the cooperative model. Through his inclusive leadership style and competent counsel, he has built and maintained strong, trusting relationships within NRECA and the membership. Mr. Breakman has a proven track record of success managing and leading teams.
Mr. Breakman possesses a deep curiosity and understanding of, and experience with, emerging technologies and contributes to the thought leadership of NRECA and NRECA members. Among various charges, Mr. Breakman is primarily responsible for providing key information on current and future trends affecting operations, technology planning, consumer expectations, and to work with with the NRECA Government Relations team on regulatory and policy drivers. He regularly prepares and presents to large audiences within the membership and utility industry. Additionally, Mr. Breakman supports a number of federally-funded research projects in collaboration with the NRECA Research team.
