Director
Erwin Fiber
John Fredericks is a tech enthusiast who is also the Director of Erwin Fiber for Erwin Utilities Authority in the rural town of Erwin, Tennessee. He has been working in the FTTX space for the past 19 years starting in helpdesk support then moving to network engineering and more recently as the Director for Erwin Utilities' fiber to the home network.
John has a passion for creating simplified networks with fault tolerant systems and redundancies that result in minimal downtime due to failures. This simplified approach to the service provider space came after reading ReWork by Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson, et al. The idea is not to provide the most services possible to meet the needs of a small percentage but rather to provide a few services and make them the best. This may not serve 100% of customers in your area; however, it does serve 90%, or more, better than anyone else.
The culture of Erwin Fiber is not to just sell internet. To quote Simon Sinek, "People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe". We believe in creating the most reliable internet connection in the region, one that we, the team building it, would want at home. This belief has simplified the provisioning and delivery of services and has aided in creating a network that saw 100% uptime for our customers in 2021.
