Next Practices: How Data is Informing the Next Generation of Damage Prevention

Increasingly congested subterranean environments present serious challenges to efficient fiber installation, maintenance and repair. In this panel session, attendees will hear about innovative “Next Practices” in maintaining network integrity from the estimated $30 billion annual cost of excavation-related damages to communications and other buried infrastructure. CGA President and CEO Sarah Magruder Lyle will be joined by Heath Sellenriek (Gateway Fiber), Steve Sellenriek (UtiliSource) and John Fluharty (Quanta) to discuss how fiber providers and their contractors can achieve greater returns on investment through strategic damage prevention initiatives and partnerships. In addition to new industry data and research, panelists will share an update on an ambitious effort to map an entire city’s underground infrastructure in conjunction with a fiber installation, in addition to other pathways to improving U.S. damage prevention for superior network integrity.
