Firefighter’s and Change; some would suggest that this is like trying to mix oil and water. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, you can create a culture of change and innovation by laying a simple foundation and introducing some basic tools and guidelines. In this session we will address barriers to change, methodologies for helping your members feel less intimidated by changes and strategies for getting you on your way to creating a culture of change and innovation. You will learn some practical exercises that you can take back to your department to begin the process of changing your culture.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn a 500-year-old principle from philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli that still explains why organizational change is so difficult to achieve, even today, and will be provided a model, that they can replicate in their home jurisdiction that will help organization members think differently about new ideas.
Participants will learn an innovation exercise, that they will participate in and be able to replicate in their home jurisdiction, to help set the stage for organizational change.
Participants will be able to describe foundational organizational values that must be in place before embarking upon a journey of organizational change.
