In most work places, harassment prevention training looks pretty much like it did 20 years ago—a powerpoint review of harassment laws, standards and workplace policies, a training video that usually bears no resemblance to the fire station environment, and a questions-and-answer session that often leaves more questions than answers. But recent scientific studies of workplace harassment and harassment prevention training reveal that the typical harassment-prevention training program doesn’t work—the number of harassment (and retaliation) cases keep going up each year.
What are we doing wrong, Chief? And what should we be doing?
This workshop will focus on harassment prevention training—and training strategies--that actually prevent harassment in a firehouse setting, as well as effective harassment complaint management when a harassment complaint hits your desk. Participants will leave this workshop with the foundation of an action plan for a successful harassment prevention program
