The world is ending! Maybe not, but that's how it feels somedays. Massive amounts of people, firefighters included, are resigning their positions at alarming rates. Research shows that over 90% of people are considering a job move. Could you imagine if that number is half right?! This new epidemic is not medical in nature, but cultural in our workplace. “The Great Resignation” is wreaking havoc on the fire service. Low applicant numbers, high attrition rates, and decreased morale are complicating the job of fire chiefs, to put it nicely. This session provides a starting place to combat this administrative and cultural challenge. From reinvented compensation packages to innovated mentorship programs, 21st century fire chiefs must evolve to address these issues.
