Connecting with our community during a pandemic has proven to be not only a hurdle, but in many ways, a large disconnect. In a world where connection and communication are imperative, the fire service has had to pivot in order to continue to deliver its messages. West Pierce Fire & Rescue’s community risk reduction and outreach team has put a variety of measures in place to connect with their community, quite possibly when they need it most. In this presentation, Battalion Chief Lance Nelson will explain the ways WFPR has moved community risk reduction programs to a virtual setting, while fostering relationships so they are stronger than ever when in-person programs resume.
