All Fire Departments have a Wildland Urban Interface problem whether they choose to recognize it or not. In some cases, it is a traditional wildland interface issue and in others, it's an open space island issue. IAFC has several wildland fire programs that will be presented by the IAFC's Wildland Policy Committee members. These programs along with real-world experiences will help Company Officers recognize, plan and deal with these wildland urban interface fire situations.
Learning Objectives:
Encourage participants to recognize and acknowledge wildland and wildland urban interface issues within their jurisdiction.
Encourage dialogue amongst participants, within all jurisdictions and stakeholders, and with the public, about wildland urban interface and wildland fire issues.
Introduce participants to the tools within the IAFC Community Wildfire Readiness and other Wildland Programs.
