Regardless of if you are fully paid or all volunteer, we can all hopefully agree our greatest asset is our people. Whether that is financially or simply as a resource that without which we couldn't even make fire and EMS responses. Goshen Township launched a multi-facetted approach to ensure our workforce was "Fire Fit". The program introduced daily, non-punitive physical fitness, annual physicals that exceed the national standards, cancer screening and programs on employee assistance, nutrition and other health and wellness initiatives all to reduce stress and increase the health of our employees. The results worked, injuries went down, accidents event down, sick leave went down, and the overall health and wellness of the organization went up.
