Longevity, a mobile society, a desire to age-in-place, increasing costs are issues that are contributing to an increased interest, if not obligation, to speak with clients about extended care. For many clients and families, it remains a taboo topic. Starting the conversation is difficult, but starting is not enough. In this session, we will gain insight into framing the conversation into useful steps that will move client planning from risking unwanted lifestyle/financial/retirement plan consequences to discussing and creating a more financially stable generational plan minimizing disruption of career paths, physical and psychological wellbeing, investment, retirement, and legacy plans.
Learning Objectives:
Gain insight into how to use a three step framework to start, personalize, and continue broader on-going dialogues concerning planning for extended care.
Delve into how supervisory care availability and costs can motivate clients to continue the discussion and discover options to preserve their wellbeing, investment and retirement plans, and advisor relationships.
Review current insurance, non-insurance, federal, and state LTC proposals and programs that provide context for planning with clients and their multigenerational families.
