Kartoosh Heydari, MD, Director of Cancer Research Laboratory (CRL) FACS Core Facility at UC Berkeley
Dr. Heydari obtained his MD from Linkoping Health University, Sweden (2001). He did his postdoctoral training at Stanford with professors Lee and Len Herzenberg. Professor Herzenberg is the godfather of FACS and received the Japanese Kyoto prize (which is equivalent to the Nobel prize) in 2006 for advancement of technology. Dr. Heydari has held various senior positions in the Biomedical and Biotechnology fields at Stanford-Yale-University of California Berkeley (2006-2021). Currently Dr. Heydari is the Director of CRL FACS Core Facility at UC Berkeley and, together with his team, they are supporting 60+ PIs and 250+ researchers on their research projects involving Hi-D FACS.
He has published 40+ manuscript in peer-review journals (including PNAS, Cell, NEJM, Blood, …) and has served as senior editor on many journals covering Immunobiology, Cancer, High-Dimensional (Hi-D) Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting and Infection subjects.
He is a member of the Advisory Council at Cal State East Bay Leadership in Disruptive Times.
