Jana developed Westwire Evolutions, a coaching and consulting firm for inspiring people and programs, which allows her to focus on program enhancement and the sharing of best practices. She enjoys strategic planning, leadership development, program optimization, incident response, and is most passionate about EMS safety and responder support. She has developed trauma and transport programs, incident responses, as well as patient access and regional operations centers focused on improving patient throughput and flow and now enjoys helping others across all those realms.
Jana has more than 30 years of EMS and nursing experience, beginning as a volunteer EMT outside of Chicago, IL in 1984. She has held positions in EMS, Transport, Trauma & Disaster Administration in both for-profit and not-for profit settings. She began her flight nursing career in 1990, at the young age of 24 at Lifeline in Rockford, Illinois where she also served as the Public Information Officer (PIO).
Jana was formerly the Program Director for AIRLIFE Denver a busy emergency and critical care air and ground transport service, serving Denver and an 8-state Rocky Mountain region. AIRLIFE Denver had over 130 team members covering 4 helicopters, 2 Lear jets and 2 Critical Care Transport (CCT) ground ambulances, which completed over 2400 transports a year. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and was recognized for several best practices, including becoming the nation’s first dedicated stroke transport team and receiving the prestigious Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) Program of the Year award in 2010—all accomplishments driven by the team.
Most recently Jana was the VP of Strategic Operations & Partner Development for Med-Trans Corporation with a focus on program enhancement and viability. There she oversaw a vibrant leadership team managing the business, educational, communications, regulatory and clinical aspects of more than 1000 crew members at roughly 100 bases.
