Shawn Trautman is an experienced clinical leader, leading teams at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview. He has served in a leadership position on the Lifeline Critical Care transport team since 2016, which serves The Johns Hopkins Health System and provides advanced life support during intra- and inter-hospital transport throughout the region. Lifeline is now involved in 22,000 air, ground, and in-house transports each year.
In October of 2021, he assumed leadership of Neurosciences units at Johns Hopkins Bayview. In this role Trautman leads a team of team of nurses, patient care technicians, and administrative staff to cover the full spectrum of care in our comprehensive stroke center. This accounts for two thirds of the admissions to the unit. Neurosciences nursing supports intensive care, intermediate care, and acute admissions all on one unit.
Trautman is the first manager in the health system with a dual reporting structure such as his - involving completely different specialties.
Trautman has a passion for building high performing teams, developing leaders, innovation, and implementing cutting edge clinical care.
A nurse since 2008, Trautman received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Maryland, where he is also enrolled in a Master of Science in nursing leadership.
