Redmond, Oregon, United States
Amanda is a member of The Klamath Tribes of southern Oregon. She has spent the last several years exploring the gross disparities amongst non-white peoples in healthcare, particularly those in the Indigenous population. She speaks locally and nationally on these topics as a way to grow awareness in the medical community. Her ten-year career as a flight paramedic has allowed to see first-hand how racism and bias shows up in healthcare. Additionally, she is employed by The Klamath Tribes developing a healthcare initiative that will improve the health of Tribal members through traditional customs, culture, and practices. She has recently started work with leadership at Life Flight Network to begin a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative at the company.
