Flight Physician and Assistant Medical Director
AirMed, University of Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
With more than three decades of experience in the air medical field, I currently wear multiple hats. First, I am a full-time cardiac anesthesiologist, and Director of Trauma Anesthesiology at the University of Utah, a busy tertiary medical center. I am also a Flight Physician and Assistant Medical Director for AirMed at the University of Utah, serving a very large service area.
I also have extensive teaching experience. In addition to daily bedside teaching of flight-crews, residents and fellows in the operating room, intensive care unit, and helicopter, I also provide yearly didactic and laboratory sessions to our flight-crews, residents, fellows, and faculty anesthesiologists and intensivists, for emergency airway management, emergency surgical skills, trauma management, and complex cardiac anesthesia topics. I have given many lectures at previous AMTC and CCTMC meetings, including the very well attended and rated "Prevention of Peri-Intubation Cardiac Arrest session at AMTC 2019, and the similarly rated and attended "Advanced Ventilator Management" session at AMTC 2021.
