For many years, out of hospital cardiac arrest patients who are in refractory Ventricular Fibrillation/Ventricular Tachycardia have been treated with standard ACLS protocols by EMS providers. ECMO facilitated resuscitation (eCPR) has been studied and proven to increase survivability in this patient population. In this session, we will examine the organization, the training, operations and outcomes of the Minnesota Mobile Resuscitation Consortium's Mobile ECMO team. Learn how flight clinicians play an integral role in this novel model for delivering advanced resuscitation to the community.
Learning Objectives:
Describe how one team implemented ECMO facilitated resuscitation (eCPR) in their facility
Identify the clinician's role in providing eCPR to patients
Describe how eCPR procedures lead to higher survival rates than ACLS protocols in refractory Ventricular Fibrillation/Ventricular Tachycardia
