Flight Paramedic | Educator University of Mississippi | MeduPros.com | North American Rescue Brandon, Mississippi, United States
This session will chronicle a difficult case of a COVID-19 patient on bilevel non-invasive pressure ventilation who decompensated requiring mid-flight intubation. Focus will be placed on pre-flight assessment and concerns, modalities to monitor patient condition, and mid-flight changes that led to the need to intubate. Additional light will be illuminated on oxygen needs, consumption, and conservation, as well as mid-flight intubation ina fied wing aircraft.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the importance of the pre-flight planning for a complex respiratory patient
Describe the methods to quantify managing a patient on non-invasive positive pressure ventilation at bedside
Describe the decision making process to intubate a patient mid-flight
