New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, United States
As state agency biologist, you will have the ability to work with the gamut of organisms, from the largest game species like moose and bears to the smallest insect. You may conduct research yourself or apply others’ research to affect on-the-ground conservation. State biologists also manage species reactively, by regulation. In this presentation, I highlight some exciting conservation work on endangered wildlife in which I have been involved and discuss the conservation headway we have made by regulation. I will also touch on the qualities that we look for in a hew hire and how be successful at this job.
