Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, United States
Many countries continue to experience prejudice and racism within universities, the workforce, and society. Contributing to diversity and inclusivity first begins with understanding the oppression in our communities and practicing intellectual honesty and rigor throughout our everyday interactions. In this session talk, we acknowledge the challenges that people of underrepresented groups face in the STEM field, while discussing how to overcome overt and systematic inequities, remove oppressive systems of the past, and encourage empowered decisions and participation from all participants of STEM from all backgrounds, beliefs, and areas of study.
