PhD Candidate
Northern Illinois University
Hi, I’m Andrew.
I’m an ornithologist and conservation scientist. Basically I study birds and help protect their populations. I’m also a photographer, writer, and dedicated birdwatcher.
I fell in love with birds in high school and went on to study ecology and evolutionary biology at Cornell University. I’m now working on a PhD at Holly Jones’s Evidence-based Restoration Lab where I study grassland birds and their relationships with Black-tailed Prairie Dogs, an undersung keystone species of western North America. My overarching goal is to use research, conservation, and environmental education to prevent extinctions and maintain ecosystems, helping create a sustainable future for biodiversity and humanity in the Anthropocene.
