Master's student
Department of Plant Science, McGill University, Canada
Marian MacNair was born on a farm in the B.C. Interior, and saw starlings arrive and supplant native birds. After working as a journalist at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, she obtained a biology degree to specialize in nature and environment outreach. A project to plant milkweed to attract monarch butterflies resulted in a Masters project to discover monarch hotspots and habitat preferences using crowd-sourced observations. Marian now works conducting flora and fauna surveys in natural areas. This poster arose from using plant apps to assist this work.
