I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Boreal Ecology at Laurentian University. I have a broad interest in the linkage of above- and below-ground functions and dynamics. My research now focuses on the root seasonal dynamics of northern wetland plants.
As we found two contrasting root habits in wetland monocots- overwintering root system vs. autumn-senescing root system - as an analogy of deciduous or evergreen tree leaf, we basically want to know what is the advantage of the binary root habits and whether they are predictable.
