Graduate Student
Universidad Ana G. Mendez, Puerto Rico
In 2020 I completed my bachelor’s in Biology: Marine Environmental Evaluator at the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce. I was part of the UPABi (“Universitarios Pro-Ambiente y Biodiversidad”) student organization which I was part for two years. Associated with other student organizations, we conduct many beach cleaning efforts, mainly at the south beaches of Puerto Rico, including the municipalities of Ponce, Guanica, Juana Diaz, and Guayama. The UPABi organization sparked my passion for ocean conservation. After completing my bachelor’s, I obtained my license as an Open Water Diver. After that, I started volunteering with the “Sociedad Ambiente Marino,” to maintain coral nurseries of different species at Culebra, P.R. A short time after this, I officially joined the “Sociedad Ambiente Marino” at their projects on coral reef ecology and conservation. I recently joined Dr. Mercado Molina’s conservation and population ecology laboratory as a master’s student at Ana G. Mendez University. I am interested in understanding the relationship between coral reef soundscapes and their biological and physical processes.
