I have a background in mangrove ecosystems, for just over 10 years. My wetland ecology experience was expanded to include working with temperate peatland ecosystems and exploring the unique properties of wetland soil through biogeochemistry techniques. Since wetland ecology includes both abiotic and biotic factors, I started investigating the non-native lowland capybara species that started occupying and modifying wetland areas in my home country, Trinidad and Tobago. It is essential to carry out this research to have a clearer understanding of the possible human-wildlife conflicts and the extent to which they may be modifying the wetland habitats that they occupy.
