Sophia is a Master's student studying urban pollination ecology and conservation programs with Dr. Michelle Tseng in Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2021 where she underwent her fourth-year thesis describing a novel leech species from central Canada under the guidance of Dr. Sebastian Kvist at the Royal Ontario Museum. She is currently interested in the intersection of conservation and policy, in particular how conservation programming and messaging in citizen-led programs can affect motivations, actions, and ultimately conservation outcomes. She loves insects, leeches, and a variety of other vermiform creatures.
