Description: Talking to survivors of a patient who is going to die, or has died is one of the most stressful situations that the new EMS graduate will encounter at the beginning of their career. We will describe how to create educational opportunities to learn and practice this skill in a safe training environment. Incorporating psychosocial aspects of dying into learning activities will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss basic psychosocial aspects of the dying process.
Devise learning opportunities for EMS students to train on death notification.
Integrate principles of cultural humility into death notification training activities.
