Clayton Kazan, MD, MS, FACEP, FAEMS, is a nationally recognized leader and educator in EMS. He started in EMS as an EMT while an undergraduate at UCLA in 1994, and, since that time, he has held a wide variety of positions across the spectrum of EMS. He joined the Los Angeles County Fire Department as its Medical Director in 2015 and has spearheaded a number of innovative programs. Dr. Kazan is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and an Attending Physician at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center. He is a recipient of the California ACEP EMS Achievement Award and the California EMS Authority Distinguished Service Medal. His professional passions are in education, process improvement, leadership, and just culture.
