After a career in trauma surgery, in 1974 entered the evolving field of EM and EMS in Bellingham/Whatcom County WA. Is the Medical Program Director for the City/County EMS systems, was an attending in the ED St. Joseph Medical Center for 46 years, is an Associate Clinical Professor, Dept. of EM, University of Washington. Is a member of numerous local, state, national and international organizations on EM and EMS. Has authored numerous papers, book chapters and has conducted cutting edged research to include ETCO2 and Cardiac Arrest, ResQ Trial, IMMEDIATE Trial, and many more. Has spoken at over 150 local, regional, national and international meetings. Delveloped use of VideoLaryngoscopy in EMS.
