Sonia Shuhart is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor for Manatee County’s Emergency Medical Service’s Community Paramedicine Program. Sonia earned a Master’s degree in Social Work (Virginia Commonwealth University) and a Bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice (George Mason University).
Sonia’s 14 years of professional experience, including establishing therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness, started in 2008 when she worked at Safe Haven for Chronically Homeless Individuals, along with experience working on an Assertive Community Treatment Program.
Sonia was awarded the 2021 16th Congressional District Fire and Rescue/EMS Award. Sonia is passionate about whole-person care and believes by including social services within the Community Paramedicine model, we can continue to build on the innovative approaches already making a positive impact in Emergency Medical Services and Integrated Healthcare.
